Huntington Beach loves its dogs!

Dog Wash for Dog Beach?  Service Dogs?……

Dog Washing at Dog Beach – City Council members on Tuesday will consider approving sending out a request for proposals to solicit a vendor to build and run a dog washing facility at Dog Beach.  The project is expected to be about 200 square feet and would provide soap, water and other products through a coin operated system.  The council will meet at 6 pm at City Hall, 2000 Main St.

I don’t know about your dogs, but I know my puggie, Ruby, gets a bath about every other day, after coming home from Dog Beach.  She can’t swim but she follows her friends into the water, neck deep for her.  My husband surfs and knows the conditions of the water, and sometimes it’s pretty dirty.  He brings her home sandy and wet.  Can you imagine the sand in a Golden Retriever coming home in the back of your car?  LOL.  I would love the option of washing my dog right there and then!  Go to the meeting and let them know how much you would like this option.

Easing rules for Service Dogs – Huntington Beach city officials may change the city’s three-dog maximum rule to accommodate residents in need of service dogs.  Four dogs might be allowed if one of those dogs is a specially trained service, signal or guide dog.

Huntington Beach is known as a dog-friendly town.  It was named one of the best towns for dogs by Dog Fancy in July 2009 and Dog Beach was honored as one of the bet FIDO-friendly beaches in summer 2010
